“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

Answers to common questions

What happens at the first session?

At Hopeful Light, I offer both in-person and secure online sessions. During our first session, we focus on getting to know each other and explore the issues that bring you to Hopeful Light. We can then work together to identify your goals and explore the strategies and tools you can use to help you achieve your goals.

How can counselling help me?

Deciding to seek help is a big step and I understand you may be unsure about it.

Counselling has been around for decades and research shows that most people who receive therapy experience relief from their symptoms and are better able to function in their lives. Counselling has been shown to improve emotions and behaviours and to be linked with positive changes in the brain and body.

Still not sure? Call me for a free confidential 15-minute discussion to talk through your questions and see how I can help you, your family or other important people in your life.

How many sessions do I need, and when can I stop?

Depending on what you need to work on it may take several sessions to get the results you want but, ultimately it is up to you and you can stop at any time.

What if I need to change or cancel my appointment?

I know that things come up unexpectedly, and changing the time or day of an appointment can usually be accommodated. Since scheduling a session involves the reservation of time set aside especially for you, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation of an appointment. For cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee will apply. Consideration may be given for special circumstances.

How can I make a booking?

Depending on your preference, your session can be conducted in-person or online via a secure video session. To book an appointment click here.

How does online work and is it right for me?

I conduct secure online sessions, which means all you need is a digital device (eg computer, tablet, smartphone) with internet access. Experience has shown that video-based sessions can be as or more effective than in-person sessions, given that you can stay in the privacy and comfort of your home, and there is no travel time or parking required.

Is there an initial consultation?

Yes, I offer a 15-minute free discovery consult. To book a free initial consult, click here.
